Earth Day Everyday!

This Earth Day, we’re excited to announce the launch of our ethnic crop garden in partnership with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and our host site Green Street Academy. Our Stewards, under the tutelage of our Agriculture Consultant, Kimberly Raikes, will establish and manage the garden this spring. Soon we’ll be planting and harvesting callaloo, okra, fish peppers, and jute.

Freight Farm Retrofit! We’re grateful to our partner and supporter Innovation Works Baltimore for funding the final phase of the mushroom farm retrofit. Soon we’ll have the floor, HVAC, shelving, and plumbing completed—who will be the first to sample our mushrooms?

After: Gutted shipping container being prepped to grow mushrooms. A cooperative business run by our Stewards. Stay tuned for retrofit updates!

We will grow and sell high quality gourmet mushrooms in the near future!

Our Designated Land Fund!

We are running a campaign to raise $10K by May 31 for our Land Fund! There are two ways to contribute 1. Join the green revolution this Earth Day to save money and the environment. Earth Day brings news of growth and progress this spring season. Over the last few months, Acres4Change has been blossoming from a fiscally sponsored, volunteer-run, fledgling entity to an established 501c3 non-profit organization. Yes, it is official—we are taking big strides. Many thanks to Act for Alexandria for serving as our amazing fiscal sponsor over the last two years.

Acres4Change is working hard everyday to achieve its mission to create economic stability through land access and ownership, professional development, and racial healing for BIPOC farmers.

We are proud to announce that we received a two-year grant award from the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program. This funding will allow us to better train and support our Stewards as they work towards becoming farmers, community educators, and land owners. This investment will ensure the success of our inaugural Stewardship Program and build a solid foundation for future growth.
