Benjamin “Benji” Rogers grew up the son of a track coach and learned early in life that determination and technique will bring him closer to his aspirations, which explains why Benji is not discouraged by our project delays and cost-overruns. Our Stewards are true team players who lean on each other’s talents and unwavering drive for land equity and food sovereignty. Retrofitting an 8x40ft hydroponics shipping container into a mushroom farm, with limited resources, has been frustrating. Benji, with all his aplomb, saw this challenge as an opportunity to employ his construction and electrical skills and experience. He stepped in at a critical moment, when we lacked the expertise and resources, to provide the labor and skills needed to see the project to fruition. Benji has created a retrofit blueprint and is diligently building out the grow room that will one day produce mushrooms, savvy farmers, and landowners.
